The Ultegra PD-R8000 +4 SPD SL Pedals from Shimano are identical to the standard Ultegra pedal which borrows heavily from its range-topping Dura-Ace PD-9100 providing many of the pro peloton's fastest riders with a secure connection to the bike. The difference is a 4mm longer axle bringing the pedal's center from 52mm to 56mm allowing riders with wider hips the ability to achieve proper knee and foot alignment. Otherwise, it’s the same wide platform, lightweight, carbon composite body offering easy clip-ins and harnessing all the watts you care to dole out. The huge platform also makes all-day pedaling more comfortable as it better distributes pressure reducing the likelihood of hot spots on your feet. And for you crit racers out there, you'll appreciate the low profile design and 33-degree road clearance allowing for harder cornering and letting you get back on the gas quickly.

On top of the pedals are durable stainless steel plates that prevent wear to the pedal body, and provide a smooth surface for the cleats to interface ensuring smooth float. A wide bearing stance better distributes the load so bearings last longer and roll smoother. As we're accustomed to with Shimano road and mountain pedals, the adjustable entry and release tension let you customize it to your preference giving you confidence if you're a first time user or a sprinter that prefers it bear trap tight.

The pedal's stack height is an impressively low 10mm from the body to the axle's center which is 0.7mm lower than the 6800's and they hit the scales at 248-grams. The pedals include the SM-SH11 6-degree float SPD-SL cleats for 3-bolt shoes and all the necessary mounting hardware.

    premium feel in the hand.
Can't really say whether it's that good or not elecronics wise since I didn't test it but it works like it's supposed to. Meanwhile, the housing oh man. It's premium. It feels like hard aluminum or something, very nice. Edges are rounded too with just the right sharpness like a macbook. Others would've been plastic. This is really nice for the price and if the specs really are 10Gbps, that's really good because most in this price range is 5Gbps.

Failed to support desktop PCs with USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports
Does not work with my HP mini PC with USB 3.2 gen 2 ports - when connecting USB portable SSDs to the hub. You won't believe it, but many USB 3.2 Gen 2 hubs only support laptops not desktop PCs (except hubs that have dedicated power supply for higher power USB devices e.g. SSD/HDDs) when connecting USB portable SSDs to the hub. We need a major fix from many of the USB hub vendors so these products can work with desktop PCs that have USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports. Workaround: Just directly connect the USB portable SSD to the PC instead. If you need more USB ports, pick up a good old USB 3.0 hub. They're working correctly with portable USB SSDs when working with desktop PCs. (You'd need a powered USB hub if you're connecting 2 or more portable SSDs - do your own calculation: 5V - 1A per SSD/HDD).

    Perfect for ROG Ally X
Want to hook up a keyboard, mouse, headset, AND external display to a ROG Ally X? This will do it and it only takes up one (USB4) port on the Ally X. Oh, and it will also provide enough power to charge the Ally and still have juice for all the other ports. Update: I’ve now tried a few USB4 hubs because I also want Ethernet which this doesn’t have. Unfortunately I’ve discovered that most of them seem to overheat after awhile and I loose connectivity on some of the ports (for whatever reason it’s always the type A ports on the hubs that fail). After letting them cool down, the other USB hubs work again, but it’s still frustrating. This StarTech hub is the only one that works for hours. It’s a little bulkier than other hubs I’ve tried, but that’s probably because it needs to be that way for proper heat dissipation?? Anyway, I wish it had a few more ports (including Ethernet), but for reliability this thing is the best I’ve found.

    The Best!
This thing is amazing! Worked right out of the box. No drivers to install, no confusion, just plug and go. I'm using this hub to connect a mouse, a keyboard, and a monitor to my 2025 MacBook Air (M4). Before buying this I bought a complicated, powered hub for 2x the price and wasted multiple hours trying to get the $%^&(*& thing to work, which it never did. If you want to run a display and a few peripherals, this Startech hub is the absolute best bang for your buck.

    Quality Control Issues
I want to like this dock, I really do. I purchased it with the intention of using it as a hub for my phone + usb-c external display. The pass-through charging never worked on this dock. Tried multiple cords and tested the dock with nothing plugged into any of the USB ports -- all of the power disappears somewhere onto the hub and the actual charge rate on my phone slows to a trickle. With nothing connected, it estimates >24hrs to charge from 30% to full. The plus side is that the usb ports do work, though the usb-c display went from 100% reliability to <50% within a few months of purchase. Extremely frustrating.
